Why does Iran's Fun Loving Leader Hate Israel So Much?
by Dan Ehrlich

Ahmadinejad: A dangerous nut-case or political genius?
Do you ever wonder what Iran, or more specifically, Iran's leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has against Israel and Jews? I mean he hardly ever makes a speech where Israel and Zionists aren't denigrated or threatened. What did Israel ever do to Iran?

Well, for one thing in Iran it's commonplace to pick on non Muslim minorities such as members of the Baha'i faith, many of whom generations ago were forced to flee Iran and set-up shop in Haifa. Perhaps that's why Ahmadinejad has it in for Israel. Or maybe it's because most of Iran's Jews followed the Baha'is taking their wealth and expertise wth them.

During his UN speech Thursday America's representatives walked out when the ever-charming Iranian president accused the United States of orchestrating the 9/11 terrorist attacks in an attempt to “reverse the declining American economy,” and “save the Zionist regime. There's Zionism again, He seems about as obsessed with Zionism as Glen Beck is with Nazism.

And speaking of Nazism, if you listen to or read some of Hitler's speeches he too is obsessed with Jews in a similar fashion. . .But in a way the Nazi leader paid them a compliment by branding them both the force behind international banking and international Communism. That's a neat trick, even for God's chosen. However, its seems Iran's leader is following Hitler's technique in singling out one group for racist abuse.

So, why does Ahmadinejad hate Zionist so much? Well, as was the case with Nazi Germany, Iran is an economically hard-pressed nation. It needs a scapegoat. And in the Middle East, or the world for that matter, there's no better scapegoat than Israel.

Of course the real reason is a bit more complicated. Zionism isn't some evil or secret anti Muslim belief. It's simply the movement for the return of Jews to their long lost native land. It has nothing to do with Arab refugees or a raid on a Gaza supply flotilla,

Yet it has everything to do with Ahmadinejad's regional ambition to make Iran into sort of a new version of the Turkish Ottoman Empire...the top dog in the Middle East. This as Turkey looks towards the West and membership in the European Union.

Only one thing stands in his way, Israel and its pal the USA. Having a Zionist state in the middle of the Middle East messes things up for this non Arabic Shi'ite Muslim nation. Ahmadinejad's constant threats against Israel are designed more for Arabs than Jews. He wants to paint Iran and himself the true guardians of Islam, unafraid of the infidel.

This scares some Arab states, especially the present guardians of Islam, the Saudis, who are Sunni Muslims. Both Sunni and Shiites are violently at odds with each other, i.e., Iraq is a case in point.

For Ahmadinejad to achieve his ambition he has to first weaken and eventually destroy Israel as a nation, leaving the field open for Iran. He’s also counting on the West to be too preoccupied with its own problems to intervene against what he considers a new Middle East reality, Iran as the regional super power.

As for the Arabs, while most previously would have welcomed Israel’s destruction, the new reality has Israel and its close pal America, as the only major barrier between Iran and them. While Israel may not be a Muslim nation or Arabic, the Jews and Arabs are Semitic people, where as the Iranians aren’t. But, even more important, Israel is seen to have no imperial ambitions of riding roughshod over the region. It just protects its own territory.

What about Ahmadinejad and the Iranian A-bomb? This depends on how mentally stable and rational he is. Even a small nuclear attack against Israel could cripple or destroy Israel’s neighboring states as well, including the Palestinians. Remember, atomic weapons don’t recognize national borders.

We just have to hope that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is really a closet academic and genius who simply knows how to play the world power bluff game.
